Food collection

The food collection has become an integral part of our ongoing support for the communities in which we operate. This event not only encourages our customers to donate durable food to charity, but also strengthens solidarity and a sense of shared responsibility within the community. Tesco is always proud to join loyal colleagues and shop customers and increase all customer donations by 20% in cash to support food bank operations.

Who we help

On the day of the food collection, all donations from our customers are processed and sorted by volunteers from local food banks and their non-profit customer organizations. At the end of the collection, the food is taken to a local food bank warehouse or directly to some of the non-profit organizations such as Caritas CR, HOPE, Silesian Diaconia, Salvation Army and many other local charities. Food is a valuable help because it allows charities and families in crisis to prepare nutritionally nutritious meals and lasts for weeks or months after collection.

The Czech Federation of Food Banks cooperates with an extensive network of more than 600 partners, thanks to which food donations can help up to 100,000 people in need.

How you can help

We make it easier for you to donate food in our stores. On the day of food collection, you will find volunteers near the collection points ready to offer you a helping hand. They will tell you what to buy or give you a special shopping list. You can then buy one of the items yourself and leave it at the food collection point.

You can also become a volunteer yourself and help others donate. For more information, please click here .
