It's in your hands! You Choose We Help projects will divide 5 million crowns

At the turn of January and February, Tesco is again in the sign of helping nonprofit organizations across the country who are working for a better life with their community projects. Projects aimed at children, the disadvantaged, families or socially disadvantaged people will distribute the sum of 5 040 000 CZK. In each store, three publicly beneficial projects from the region compete for customer favour. Customers will then decide with their votes which project will win CZK 30,000. But projects on the second and third will not come short. The reward for the second place is 16 000 CZK, in the third place the organization receives 10 000 CZK.

“I would like to encourage all our customers not to miss a unique opportunity to improve the environment and vote for projects they wish to implement in their region,” says Patrik Dojčinovič, Managing Director of Tesco Stores Czech Republic. Incredible 607 projects applied for the 7th round of the Tesco Endowment Fund grant program. 270 of them proceeded to the customer vote based on the evaluation of the expert guarantor of the Civil Society Development Foundation program and selected Tesco employees. All finalists submitted quality and innovative projects with a clear positive impact on the local community. At the same time, organizations were tested for credibility and sustainability.

From January 20 to February 16, customers will receive a voting token for each purchase at Tesco stores, which they can then drop into the voting boxes behind the cash registers to support the local project closest to them. Customers will get more information about participating organizations and their projects at the voting boxes. In addition, the nominated organizations have the opportunity to present their projects directly at the shops during the voting and thus bring their activities closer to customers.

“Community support has long been one of our main pillars of corporate social responsibility. We launched the grant program for the first time in 2016. In six rounds, more than 23 million crowns were donated for the implementation of 1080 charity projects from all corners of the Czech Republic, ” adds Patrik Dojčinovič.

Therapies and adventure events for sick children, cooking courses for single mothers, hospice equipment, job opportunities for the long-term unemployed, restoration of water bodies, a library accessible to all - even such projects will fight for customer voices. The complete list of competition projects can be found on the project website https://itesco.cz/pomahame/ .
